Verwood Schools & Education
Dorset Council oversees education across the county including Verwood. Their website is the best place to start your search for a suitable school for your child if you are thinking of moving to Verwood.
There is, unfortunately, no secondary school in Verwood, however, older children can travel by bus to the nearby Queen Elizabeth’s School or Ferndown Upper School.
The Burgate School and Sixth Form is also a good choice and is for ages 11–18 and is an academy school. The school is situated in Fordingbridge, 7 miles from Verwood.

Leisure
Potterne is a play area, with 12 acres of sports grounds capable of hosting rugby, football, tennis, netball and cricket. There is a skate park and outside exercise equipment or if you’re more of a team player there is a rugby club, cricket club, football club and bowling club, so Verwood does have plenty of sporting activities to keep you entertained.
There are also several riding centres and miles of bridleways to explore, so you should never feel bored.
Golfers can enjoy days at the nearby Crane Valley Golf Course, 5 minutes from the town centre or alternatively you can play at Moors Valley Country Park and also enjoy a leisurely stroll and a drink in the café afterwards.
